Recently selected by Latin Beat columnist, Nelson Rodriguez, as one of the top 100 Latin jazz albums to own in 2004, El Asunto (1999), was listed in Latin Beat journalist, Luis Tamargo's top ten records of 1999 and received excellent critical response and radio play in Miami, New York, Los Angeles, Puerto Rico, Canada and Europe. Many radio stations placed the record in their top 20 lists in the September, October, November, and December/January 1999 issues of Latin Beat. The title track features vocalist Pedro More from Orquesta Aragon and mixes jazz with folkloric Batá drums. Other tracks combine jazz with traditional Caribbean genres such as Dominican pambiche, Cuban changüí, as well as timba, and rap.
